Join us for an evening with Tommy Orange at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, featuring "There There", his debut National Bestseller.  Tommy Orange, is this year's featured author for Timberland Reads Together, will be discussing his book, answering audience questions, and signing copies of his novel.

Schedule at the Washington Center: 
6:00 p.m. - doors open
6:30 p.m. - seating begins
7:00 p.m. - main event with Q&A 
8:00 p.m. - book signing ("There There" will be available for purchase in the lobby from Browser's Bookshop)

Tommy Orange is the author of the New York Times bestselling novel There There, a multi-generational, relentlessly paced story about a side of America few of us have ever seen: the lives of urban Native Americans. There There was one of The New York Times Book Review's 10 Best Books of the Year, and won the Center for Fiction's First Novel Prize and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Orange is a recent graduate from the MFA program at the Institute of American Indian Arts. He is a 2014 MacDowell Fellow, and a 2016 Writing by Writers Fellow. He is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma. He was born and raised in Oakland, California, and currently lives in Angel's Camp, California. 

This event will be moderated by Dawn Pichón Barron, a writer, educator, & advocate for human & civil rights. Currently, she is Director of the Native Pathways Program for Indigenous Scholarship at The Evergreen State College. Her work has been or is forthcoming in Yellow Medicine Review, Pittsburgh Poetry Review, WA 129 Poetry Anthology (Sage Press, 2017), Barrelhouse “ALPHA” blog, Pontoon, "Of A Monstrous Child" (Lost Horse Press, 2011), & the chapbook, “ESCAPE GIRL BLUES” (Finishing Line Press, January 2018).
